Like they said...it had to be cold!

after failing on my first attempt, my second attempt at cold brewing my coffee was generally successful.

so, here's the basic recipe to make your own ice coffee. you need:

Ground coffee
Jar/Jug
Ice
Milk
Syrup
Filter (basic item to filter your coffee)

Put about 5 tablespoon of grounded coffee into the jar. Then pour in about 750ml of drinking water in room temperature. Leave it in room temperature for about 10 hours before putting it into the fridge for another 8-10 hours...basically, it taste better after 24hours of brewing.

For your final preparation, pour in the fresh milk (you can substitute with skim milk or soy milk) into a tall glass until it reach about a quarter of the height of the glass. Then with a filter, pour in the coffee. Add the syrup if you prefer a sweet coffee. Else, mix the milk and coffee well. If you prefer latte, add more milk. Finish it with a couple of ices. And you have a nice cold brewed ice coffee!!!

Thank you Mr. Lee

Okay...this post was supposed done much much earlier but one thing leds to another, that I'm doing it now.

Being single and living on my own, having the ability to cook a decent meal is very important not just because the food you cook is relatively healthier but it also enhance your creativity as well. Yes, using the right side of your brain.

However, there are some meals that is just too complicated or too tedious to make for one person. For example, you will never see me make a pot of curry chicken for myself considering the complicated steps as well as too many ingredients required. Saying that, in today's modern society, there are products out there that can make your life much simpler.

As an example, this prawn dish that I made, pan frying the prawn is easy but creating the right sauce and taste is one thing I will not want to waste my time of doing it. So, I had no choice but to ask Mr. Lee's assistance. Everytime that I went home, I will go and seek his help. Not that his assistance is not available here in Bangkok, it's just limited.
And Mr. Lee is able to make my life simpler not just with Prawn but with FIsh, Chicken, Pork, etc. Hahaha.
Anyway, email me or leave a comment if you are interested to have the recipe for this dish.

Drumsticks....

After trying microwaving my food last Sunday and found it to be quite tasty, I did it again today and this time with photos and recipe to share. Simple and quick yet healthy. Here goes...
3 Drumsticks. With or without the skin, it's up to you.
Local spinach, enough for one person.
a ziploc bag, one of the best creation ever.
and stuff for marination.
For marination you will need the following:
3 cloves of garlic, pounded lightly.
1 tablespoon of olive oil/sesame oil/ cooked oil
1 tablespoon of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of sugar
dashes of salt, grounded pepper and oregamo herbs
stalks of coriander leaves
To enhace the taste, the following can be added
Cooking wine or suitale alcoholic beverage (I do not have cooking wine, so I use Vodka instead. Just about one to two teaspoon should do)

HP sauce/ BBQ sauce (in this case, I used a seafood cocktail sauce.

Put the drumstick and all the above stuff into the ziploc. shake it and leave it for aout 4-5 hours.

This is how it will looks like.

Next, the cooking. You can cooked it in an oven or like me, microwave it. Should be around 400w and 10 minutes, depends on the chicken itself.

For the spinach, just boiled it, add a spoon of olive oil or sesame oil, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, dashes of salt adn fried garlic.

Well, here's the result. Generally quite tasty considering the number of hours in marination. The only thing is that it's had that hinge of bitter taste coming from teh alcohol (Marinated too long)

Well, do try it. It's not about skill, it's about the willingness to mix differen sauces.
